Ready to shake up your coffee routine? Let's dive in.

What You'll Need:

  • An AeroPress coffee maker: I’m using the Clear Green - the obvious choice for this recipe.
  • Flow Control Filter CapKeeps the mess to a minimum and opens the door for that espresso-like texture.
  • Matcha Powder: Just a 1/4 teaspoon, the green soul of our latte.
  • Hot Water: For both the matcha and the coffee.
  • Coffee: 18 grams of your favorite beans.
  • Grinder: Aim for a fine grind; we're going for gold (or, in this case, green and brown).
  • Milk: Choose your fighter—dairy or plant-based, either are welcome here.
  • Ice: Cool factor, literally.
  • Matcha Sieve, Bowl & Whisk:  For that frothy matcha magic.
  • Kettle: Ideally with temperature control so we don’t scorch that matcha.
  • Scale: Recommended, but not required.

Crafting Your Masterpiece: Step-by-Step

  1. Matcha Prep: Heat your kettle to 175 degrees Fahrenheit. Sieve your matcha powder into a bowl to avoid clumps - nobody likes a lumpy latte. Add 3oz of hot water and whisk until you've got a frothy, vibrant green matcha. This is the heart of our drink, rich with antioxidants and good vibes.

  1. Coffee Time: Crank up your kettle to 201 degrees Fahrenheit, to perfectly extract that coffee. Weigh and grind those 18 grams of coffee - aim for a fine grind so we can get that full espresso like texture fast. Assemble your AeroPress and pour the coffee in.

  1. The Brew: Pour 60 grams of that hot water over your coffee, just up to the number 1 mark if you’re not using a scale. Let the two mingle and steep for 45 seconds.

  1. Ice, Ice, Baby: Grab a glass and fill it with ice. This will help flash chill our drink.

  1. Matcha Milk Waterfall: Let's get green! Pour your frothy matcha over the ice. Top it up with milk, making it as creamy or as light as you like. Dairy, oat, or whatever - choose your fave!

  1. Press Play: Press your AeroPress over the matcha milk mix. Watch as the coffee cascades down like a tasty, caffeinated waterfall, melding the matcha and milk in a drink that’s going to turn heads.

  1. Stir & Savor: Give it a gentle stir to introduce everyone in the glass. Take a moment to admire your handiwork—then dive in and enjoy.

Why It's More Than Just a Drink

The Dirty Matcha Iced AeroPress Latte isn't just a beverage; it's a statement. Both matcha and coffee are drinks rich in culture and history. While they're great on their own, when you bring them together it’s an incredible and unique taste experience.
